Internet Explorer is shutting down on June 15

A year ago, Microsoft made an announcement regarding the future of Internet Explorer in a blog post, saying that the future is in Microsoft Edge. The tech giant also gave us obvious reasons why it would make a great alternative. With that in mind, the Internet Explorer 11 has come to an end. The legacy of Microsoft Edge will reach its end-of-life support and will retire tomorrow, June 15, 2022.

“With Microsoft Edge capable of assuming this responsibility and more, the Internet Explorer 11 desktop application will be retired and go out of support on June 15, 2022, for certain versions of Windows 10,” the statement reads.

While it may not affect the majority of PC users, Microsoft still keeps Internet Explorer-related features and modules in the Microsoft Edge app, which can be accessed through the Internet Explorer mode (“IE mode). Microsoft also asks users to switch to Microsoft Edge.
