5-year-old Galaxy Note 5 and S6 series receive unexpected updates

The software support for both the Note 5 and Galaxy S6 series has already ended a few years ago, considering how old the series is, most of the users are likely to have their phones upgraded by now. Samsung surprised us with the unexpected support of patches to their old devices. 

The took place began in South Korea, and the update package is now becoming available in several regions including Europe and Latin America. 

The latest firmware update does not change the Android version, Galaxy Note 5 and S6 series retain to run on Android 7.0, Nougat with September 2018 as the security patch. The latest update claims to add the latest security-related stabilization code. However, the security patch level remains unmodified.
