MANILA, Philippines — Technology giant Google announces AirDrop support on Android in new QuickShare update, making file transfer compatible across Android and iPhone devices, on Thursday, November 20, 2025.
The update, now rolling out to Pixel 10 smartphones, brings Quick Share to work with Apple's AirDrop on mobile devices, bridging the gap between the two mobile systems on file transfer.

Google says the Quick Share-AirDrop update was built 'with security at its core,' stressing data protection with strong safeguards tested by independent security experts.
"It’s just one more way we’re bringing better compatibility that people are asking for between operating systems, following our work on RCS and unknown tracker alerts," Google added.
While the update may have brought the two mobile platforms together through the new file transfer support, a 9to5Google report says that Google did not partner with Apple on this interoperability, emphasizing the former's "own implementation."
But the company later told the publication that it would "welcome collaboration opportunities to address interoperability issues between iOS and Android."
9to5Google says Pixel 10 users can enable the feature on the Settings app, tap their name at the top for Google services, then locate All services > Privacy & security > System services for the "Quick Share Extension," update the extension and reboot the phone.
