For those who dare — ASUS just unleashed the ground-breaking ROG Phone 5 gaming series with the all-new Snapdragon 888, up to 18GB of LPDDR5 RAM, 144Hz Refresh Rate, and many more.

First off, you might be thinking, why did the company skip the number 4? Unfortunately, ASUS skipped the number 4 because its pronunciation in Chinese sounds similar to “death.” Skipping the number 4, ASUS just unleashed the ROG Phone 5 series today. The ROG Phone 5 lineup comes with a total of three models, the original ROG Phone 5, the ROG Phone 5 Pro, and the ROG Phone 5 ultimate.

DISPLAY

The series is built around a 6.78-inch FHD+ Samsung AMOLED display with refresh rate support for up to 144Hz, 20.4:9 wide aspect ratio, HDR10+, Always-on Display, 1ms response time, 300Hz touch-sampling rate, 24.3 touch latency, and Delta E<1 color accuracy. The display is equipped with the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and has an RGB light panel attached to the back.

Under the hood, all models come with the Snapdragon 888 5G processor, accompanied by up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage for the Pro and Ultimate, and up to a whopping 18GB of LPDDR5 RAM for the Ultimate. The standard ROG Phone 5 comes in two colors, Phantom Black and Storm White, while on the other hand, the ROG Phone 5 Pro comes only in a single color which is Glossy Black, as well as the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate but Matte White. Another exception is the Pro and Ultimate having secondary displays exclusively attached on the rear, which the company calls the “ROG Vision”.
