The Vivo X60 lineup with Snapdragon 870 5G scheduled to launch on March 22 in Malaysia

Vivo confirms the launch date of the Vivo X60 series scheduled to release in the Malaysian market on March 22, giving us enough details that the lineup will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 870 processor, as well as the global variant ones.

Looking back a few months ago, Vivo made an announcement in China that the Vivo X60 and X60 Pro uses Samsung’s Exynos 1080 SoC, but this time, it’s using a different chipset. As usual, it’s more likely a variant depending on your region, only minor differences you can spot between the series being released in two different regions.

The teaser on the company’s website highlights the Vivo X60 series’ features such as its Gimbal Stabilization 2.0 for ‘redefined’ shots, and Extreme Night Vision 2.0 for crisp and precise colors on night shots, making the series entirely focused on the camera department. The series also sports two colors: Shimmer Blue and Midnight Black.

WHAT SHOULD WE EXPECT?

The Vivo X60 and X60 Pro (in China) both feature a 6.56-inch AMOLED panel in Full HD resolution with refresh rate support for up to 120Hz and a centered punch-hole to feature its 32MP front-facing camera.

The X60 is equipped with a 48MP OIS triple-camera setup, with a 13MP for the portrait, as well as 13MP for an ultra-wide shooter. While on the other hand, the X60 Pro equips a 50MP OIS quadruple-camera setup, with an 8MP OIS for periscope telephoto, 13MP for the portrait, plus a 13MP for an ultra-wide camera.

Furthermore, the Vivo X60 offers a 4,300mAh battery, considering that the Vivo X60 Pro only packs a nerfed 4,200mAh battery which is kind of disappointing. Apart from batteries, both devices support 33W for wired charging and are running on the latest OriginOS with Android 11 on top out-of-the-box.

Currently, the Vivo X60 series has a total of three models, with the Snapdragon 888-powered Vivo X60 Pro+ being on top of the line. However, it is not known if the Vivo X60 Pro+ will also come along with these two models or not, let’s wait for the official announcement in Malaysia and see what will it offer.
