The company just unveiled the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition in addition to the Redmi K40 series and it was launched recently in China. As the name suggests, it is the gaming variant of the Redmi K40 lineup. It has an astonishing look and extraordinary gaming features and that’s what makes it spectacular.
XIAOMI IS BACK AT IT AGAIN
The Black Shark 4 series was launched a month ago and now, Xiaomi is back at it again and introduced us to the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition as another contender that disrupts the market. If you don’t know, the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition is the second device to ship with the flagship MediaTek Dimensity 1200 5G while the Realme GT Neo being on top.
THE COOLER BLACK SHARK, BUT AFFORDABLE
The Redmi K40 Gaming Edition boasts a fluid 120Hz display, 480Hz touch sampling rate, OLED Display, physical gaming buttons, 5,065mAh battery, and a 64MP 1/2.0-inch Quad-Bayer triple-camera setup attached on the rear along with an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 2MP macro one. On the front is a 16MP selfie shooter housed in a punch-hole cut-out centered on the top. The display is built around a 6.67-inch Full HD Display, 1 billion colors, HDR10+ support, and the above-mentioned OLED panel, and a 120Hz refresh rate.
The cooling technology is under a vapour chamber, graphite and a white graphene that cools the device itself while gaming. There are no fans equipped inside.
The Dimensity 1200 5G is accompanied by either 6GB, 8GB or 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM with a lot of options available for a UFS 3.1 storage, up to 256GB. The Redmi K40 Gaming Edition runs on the latest Android 11 with MIUI 12.5 on top.
As for the speakers, the audio of the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition is tuned by JBL on top and bottom with a Hi-Res Audio and Dolby Atmos support for an immersive cinematic audio experience.
Other features highlight an NFC and 5G connectivity, USB Type-C port, and a fingerprint sensor mounted on the side. A 5,065mAh battery powers the device, with a 67W fast-charging that can fully charge the device for up to 42 minutes, and it comes with an L-shaped USB Type-C cable for an uninterrupted gaming experience. The Redmi K40 Gaming Edition also offers IP53 for water and dust resistance.
The Redmi K40 Gaming Edition will be open for pre-orders starting tonight in China and it will be launching on April 30. The 6GB/128GB model is priced at CNY 1,999 (~roughly PHP14.9K), the 8GB/128GB model is priced at CNY 2,199 (~roughly PHP16.4K), the 8GB/256GB model is priced at CNY 2,399 (~roughly PHP17.9K), the 12GB/128GB model is priced at the same CNY 2,399 (~roughly PHP17.9K), and lastly, the 12GB/256GB model is priced at CNY 2,699 (~roughly PHP20.1K).
While on the other hand is an exclusive Bruce Lee Special Edition variant, it is only available in a 12GB/256GB option and costs CNY 2,799 (~roughly PHP20.9K).
