Honor 50 series unveiled: Google Mobile Services is back!

The Honor 50 series were released recently in China and it comes in three variants, the vanilla, the Pro version, and the SE one. These devices feature a fluid 120Hz refresh-rate display, along with a whopping 108MP camera, and guess what? It comes with Google Mobile Services in it!

The Honor 50 Pro is built around a 6.72-inch FHD display in an OLED panel with refresh rate support for up to 120Hz. It has a touch-sampling rate of 300Hz, 1.07 billion colors, and a DCI-P3 color gamut. Under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G 5G processor on the Honor 50 Pro and the non-Pro option, paired with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of onboard storage, whereas the Honor 50 SE is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 900 5G SoC which has only one 8GB RAM variant but also up to 256GB of ROM. The Honor 50 Pro is backed with a 4,000mAh battery with a fast-charging 100W that can fully charge the device from 0% flat to 100$ in just 25 minutes.

The vanilla Honor 50 features a smaller 6.57-inch FHD display in an OLED panel. Everything else is pretty much the same as the Pro version but with exceptions for the bigger 4,300mAh battery with 66W charging, and the camera setup. The main camera for the Pro and the non-Pro version is equipped with a 108MP primary camera, an 8MP wide-angle lens, a 2MP macro sensor, and a 2MP camera for depth. The Honor 50 Pro gets a dual front-facing shooter that consists of a 32MP primary camera and a 12MP wide-angle lens, while the vanilla Honor 50 gets a single 32MP front-facing shooter.

For biometrics, the Honor 50 and the 50 Pro feature an in-display fingerprint sensor for layered security and they both run on the latest Magic UI 4.2 based on Android 11.

The Honor 50 SE boasts a slightly large 6.78-inch IPS LCD display in Full HD resolution but still gets the same 120Hz refresh rate support. The phone has a triple-cam setup attached on the back with the same sensors as the two other phones excluding the depth sensor, and a single 16MP shooter on the front. It has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and it carries a 4,000mAh battery with 66W fast-charging tech.

Availability

The vanilla Honor 50 comes in three storage options: 8GB/128GB for CNY 2,699 (~roughly PHP 20K), 8GB/256GB for CNY 2,999 (~roughly PHP 22.5K) and 12GB/256GB for CNY 3,399 (~roughly PHP 25.5K). On the other hand, the Honor 50 Pro comes in two variants: 8GB/256GB for CNY 3,699 (~roughly PHP 27.8K), 12GB/256GB for CNY 3,999 (~roughly PHP 30K), as well as the Honor 50 SE: 8GB/128GB for CNY 2,399 (~roughly PHP 18K), and 8GB/256GB for CNY 2,699 (~roughly PHP 20.2K).

The Honor 50 series will be available in the China market starting June 25, 2021. The availability for global markets remains unknown. Stay tuned for updates!
