$1,500 'Smartphone for Insiders' by Qualcomm unveiled

An unexpected crossover?

If you don’t know, Snapdragon Insiders is a global community. As the name implies, it’s an organization that has a total of 1,000,000 (1 million; probably more than that) Snapdragon geeks and enthusiasts who participate in online forums and discussions. They will be the first ones to be notified on when will the ‘Smartphone for Insiders’ arrive.

Earlier today, Qualcomm just announced the “Smartphone for Insiders”, a crown-jewel flagship in collaboration with ASUS.

The Smartphone for Insiders indeed has a lot of cool and unique features you wouldn’t want to miss, so let’s start with the display. Basically, this is a $1,500 (~roughly PHP 75K) flagship smartphone, so what do you get? A huge 6.78-inch Samsung AMOLED screen in 2448 x 1080 resolution and it supports 144Hz for a fluid flow of display. On top of that is a screen that is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and supports Always-on Display.

That’s crazy, look, a notch-less smartphone which is very uncommon in the flagship industry, and not gonna lie, actually that’s the best part of it. So what else? It has a 24MP front-facing selfie shooter and a triple camera setup on the back, along with a fingerprint sensor and the inscribed Snapdragon logo.

There’s a primary 64MP camera, an ultra-wide 12MP f/2.2 sensor, alongside a telephoto 8MP shooter with 3X zoom on the rear panel. Although the actual tuning of the cameras is done by Asus.

Under the hood is a Snapdragon 888 processor (not the Plus) paired with a massive 512GB of UFS 3.1 onboard storage, as well as 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM. There’s also a not-so-bad 4,000mAh battery, and it comes with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 5.0 (65W) charger that is capable of a 70% charge in 30 minutes or a full charge in 50 minutes.

It also comes with accessories: a premium pair of TWS earbuds, a Custom Rubber Bumper, and two Enhanced Braided Cables.

The Smartphone for Insiders will be manufactured, marketed, and sold by Asus and will arrive in China, the US, Germany, UK, Japan, South Korea, and India, starting August 2021.
