Vivo Y72 5G launched, the first 5G handset in India

Vivo just announced its first 5G-enabled handset in India.

THE FIRST 5G PHONE UNDER THE Y LINEUP IN INDIA

The Vivo Y72 5G is now official in India. This is basically the same Y72 5G model which was released back in March but with slight differences such as the processor, and the camera. The handset is backed with the same 5,000mAh of battery with 18W fast-charging tech. Inside is a Snapdragon 480 SoC instead of a MediaTek Dimensity 700 in which we have seen on the global model.

The rear cameras are slightly different here compared to the global model. This one has a dual-camera setup that consists of a 48MP main snapper that takes the place of the 64MP one from the global model, along with a 2MP depth sensor, instead of an 8MP ultra-wide. Another change is that the Indian model comes with support for a 90Hz refresh rate but gets a downgraded 8MP front-facing camera.

Other than that, the rest of the features matches the global’s 6.58-inch display with 1080 x 2408 resolution and the same fingerprint sensor. Software-wise, the Indian model gets Funtouch OS 11.1 based on Android 11.

Sales are already ongoing on Vivo’s online store (of course, in India). Pricing starts at INR 20,990 (~roughly PHP 14.1K) and it comes in two colors, ranging from Slate Gray to Prism Magic.
