Samsung launches Galaxy F42 5G with Dimensity 700, 90Hz FHD+ display, 5,000mAh battery

Samsung has announced its latest device in India — the Galaxy F42 5G. It features a Dimensity 700 chip, 90Hz Full HD display, and a 5,000mAh battery.

The Samsung Galaxy F42 boasts a wide 6.6-inch FHD+ display in a TFT panel. It comes with a smooth 90Hz refresh rate and a V-shaped notch that houses the 8MP front-facing camera. On the back, you get a tri-cam setup housed in a square bump layout. The camera setup consists of a 64MP main, 8MP ultra-wide, and 2MP depth sensors.

Under the hood is the budget-friendly MediaTek Dimensity 700 chip which brings affordability to 5G devices, accompanied by either 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. Additionally, you also get a microSD slot for further expansion.

The Samsung Galaxy F42 packs a 5,000mAh battery and comes with a 15W fast charging tech. Other features include: Android 11 with OneUI 3.1, side-mounted fingerprint sensor, FM Radio, USB Type-C, and more.

To sum it up, the Galaxy F42 is basically just a rebranded version of the Galaxy Wide5 that was released in South Korea a few weeks ago. It comes in two flavors: the 6GB RAM retails for INR20,999 (~roughly PHP 14.4K) while the 8GB RAM one sells out for INR22,999 (~roughly PHP 15.7K). Both options get the same 128GB storage and are now available in the Indian market.
