After months of leaks and rumours, Samsung has finally unveiled the Galaxy S22 series during the Galaxy Unpacked 2022 event, along with the Galaxy Tab S8 series and the Note-successor Galaxy S22 Ultra.
The Samsung Galaxy S22 5G and S22+ 5G
For starters, the Galaxy S22 5G and S22+ 5G share the same 4nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 octa-core chip alongside an Adreno 730 GPU. The processor is coupled with 8GB of RAM, comes in two UFS 3.1 storage configurations: 128GB and 256GB, and runs on Android 12 out-of-the-box in OneUI 4.1 skin.
Meanwhile, the flagship duo also shares the same Full HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel but then, of course, the Plus is larger than the standard one. The S22 5G uses a 6.1-inch display while the S22+ 5G, on the other hand, opts in for a larger 6.6-inch one. Both devices support 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, IP68 water resistance, and a peak brightness of 1300-nits and 1750-nits respectively.
Around the back, both models also share the same triple-camera setup that is consisting of a 50MP f/1.8 main, 12MP f/2.2 ultra-wide, and 10MP 3x telephoto camera modules with an LED flash while on the front, you get a 10MP f/2.2 selfie snapper.
Keeping the lights on is a 3,700mAh battery with 25W for the S22 5G and a 4,500mAh battery with 45W fast charging tech for the S22+ 5G. Both come with USB-C 3.2, OTG, and USB Power Delivery 3.0. Other features include: Samsung DeX (both wired and wireless support), In-Display ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, Bixby assistant, NFC, and more although both models lack the headphone jack.
