Alienware, Dell’s gaming sub-brand, has recently unveiled two new gaming laptops and they’re the first to sport 480Hz refresh rates. Meet — the Alienware m17 R5 and x17 R2.
The world’s first laptops to feature 480Hz displays are now here!
The two new laptops sport the world’s first 480Hz refresh rate panels in Full HD+ resolution with a seamless 3ms response time, bringing every gaming advantage you could think of. Alienware sees it as a “multitude of gameplay benefits,” that brings a variety of gaming-related features to the table, including smooth animation, ghosting reduction, and lower system latency.
In terms of performance, the m17 R5 comes equipped with AMD Ryzen 6000 series processors and Radeon RX 6000 series graphics — that includes the new AMD Radeon RX 6850M XT 12GB GDDR6 GPU. Meanwhile, the x17 R2 uses either 12th Gen Intel i7-12700H or i9-12900HK processor, with available GPUs consisting of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060, RTX 3070 Ti, or RTX 3080 Ti.
Additionally, the m17 R5 comes with the new AMD technologies (on select models) that offer a set of configurations, including:
- AMD SmartShift Max: Dynamic power shifting between a Radeon GPU and APU that boosts performance, from gaming to multitasking
- AMD SmartAccess Graphics: Improves frame rates, reduces latency, and saves battery
- AMD Smart Access Memory: Harnesses the full potential of the Radeon graphics card memory.
- AMD FreeSync™ Premium: Matches the refresh rate of your graphics and your display for buttery smooth gameplay.
Pricing & Availability
The Alienware m17 R5 carries a starting price tag of US$ 1,999.99 (~roughly PHP 111K) while the x17 R2 starts at US$ 2,249.99 (~roughly PHP 125K). Both laptops are now available globally.
