American tech firm Motorola kicks off the year with the brand’s newest 5G handset in the U.S. market. Meet — the Motorola Edge 2022, the third generation of the Motorola Edge series. It is the first smartphone to equip the Dimensity 1050 chip with mmWave 5G support.

For starters, the Motorola Edge 2022 offers an enormous 6.6-inch Full HD+ 10-bit display in an OLED panel. It comes with support for the 144Hz refresh rate, and a punch-hole cut-out featuring the 32MP selfie snapper. On the back is a triple-camera setup, comprised of 50MP main, 13MP ultra-wide with 120-degree FOV, and 2MP depth camera modules.
Powering the premium handset is a MediaTek Dimensity 1050 chipset, paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. It runs Android 12 on the software side. Aside from that, the phone packs a 5,000mAh battery that charges at 30W through a USB Type-C port. Other features include Dolby Atmos stereo speakers, 5G mmWave and sub-6Ghz connectivity, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC.
Additionally, the Edge 2022 comes IP52 certified and has three microphones.
Pricing & Availability
The pricing and availability details of the Motorola Edge 2022 are very scarce at the moment but the phone will retail starting at US$ 498 (~roughly PHP 27.8K) on T-Mobile in the coming weeks. Albeit, the phone is only offered in one colorway and that is the Mineral Gray variant.
